Mud Puddle
We have been working hard all year with our Speech Therapists Miss Amanda and Miss Anna. They have been working with the class practicing all the "w" questions. All students have done a great job and as a reward the ladies came in this week and brought us a surprise. Students not only got to enjoy a reading of the fabulous book " Mud Puddle" they also got to make a yummy 'worms in dirt' treat. We all had so much fun! Thanks Miss Anna and Miss Amanda.

Our Zoo Trip!
On April 1st the ESI class headed out with our Grade 3 class for a day at the Zoo. All week we had been worried as the weather forecast called for rain on that day. Thanks goodness the rain never came and we had a lovely day visiting the Lions, Komodo dragons, Dinosaur park and the stars of the day, the Penguins. In our classroom we have studied five different species of penguins including Rockhopper, King, Emperor, African and Fairy. We looked at all the areas of the world where you find penguins including Africa, South America and Australia. Everyone was surprised by the size of the Fairy Penguins from Australia. Our favourite zoo penguin was the Rockhopper with his yellow spiky "hair". We ended the day in the new dinosaur exhibit with the T-Rex and Velociraptor!

Pysanka Egg Decorating.
On Monday we made our Pysanka eggs. We worked with a lady from the Ukraine who taught us about the decorations on the eggs and what they mean. We all put a star on our egg and added images symbolic to the Easter theme we have been studying in Religion. Students were encouraged to dip their eggs into different colours of ink and then the eggs were taken overnight to be dipped in varnish to make them shiny. Most of us know the eggs to be called Pysanky eggs, we learned this is the Polish way of saying it but in the Ukrainian language Pysanka means "to write."

Our Lenten Living Gardens!
We made out Lenten Living Gardens today with help from Mrs. Vocke. Students were able to experience planting and caring for a small plant whilst learning about the sacrifices Jesus made for us at this time in our calendar. They are now displayed in the front office in the glass case. Stop by and take a look!

Penguin presentation.
Today we had our penguin presentation. Our little visitor was an African penguin who lives in the West Edmonton Mall. Her trainer Megan told us lots about Tweedwick. She was raised by humans and so really likes it when Megan gives her fish. The students were very excited to see a real live penguin and had lots of fun finishing off the afternoon watching some of the movie Happy Feet while eating some cute little penguin crackers.

We Video!
This week we have started to look at our Technology project using We Video. Students have so far learned how to sign into the chrome books, accept a shared file and transfer the images into the We Video App. We will be working next week to add music and some text to the videos. We will then begin the editing process to make our videos our own. A copy of the video will be sent to the coordinator of Aggie Days as part of our competition entry. Depending how big the files are I may post a few on here for you to enjoy. Come back often and check for updates!
